Growing up in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, Dyan struggled in the classroom as the teaching style in the 70’s did not suit her learning style. Disengaged with school, Dyan commenced an apprenticeship when she was 15 and discovered that she was much better placed in an adult work environment.
Upon completing her apprenticeship, Dyan pursued other career interests – office administration, retail, hospitality and tourism. After relocating with her young family to New South Wales, Dyan worked as a Community Liaison Officer at the local high school; it was during this time Dyan was introduced to Beacon Foundation and when she realized she was passionate about supporting young people on their journey. Dyan joined Beacon Foundation’s Facilitation Team in 2008. Dyan considers herself fortunate to have had the pleasure of meeting remarkable young people and working alongside inspirational adults.
